CLEVELAND, OHIO — Today, a vote by Amazon workers in Bessemer, Alabama failed, marking a setback in workers’ efforts to unionize.
“Workers across America should be able to organize for fair wages, good benefits and safe working conditions without the fear of retaliation. It’s time to finally begin to level a playing field that is unfairly tilted toward big business and management, center working people within our economic policies and pass the PRO ACT to empower workers and strengthen the labor movement.” said Turner
“While the outcome of the vote wasn’t what we had hoped, this is only the beginning in the fight for workers’ rights. All workers deserve dignity in their workplaces and the ability to unionize free from punishment and intimidation is a critical part of this dignity. I applaud all that the courageous workers in Alabama have accomplished and will continue to stand in solidarity to fight for the rights they deserve.” said Turner
